Q: What should I do after an auto accident?

  • Take a deep breath and stay calm.
  • Check for injuries; call an ambulance when in doubt.
  • If accident is minor, move cars to a safe place, out of traffic.
  • Turn on your vehicle's hazard lights and use cones, warning triangles or flares for safety.
  • Call the police, even if the accident is minor.
  • Notify your insurance agent or company immediately.
  • Take pictures if you have a camera or phone available

Q: What are your hours of operation?

  • Monday thru Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (open thru lunch)

Q: What forms of payment are accepted?

  • Cash

Q: Does Mac’s Automotive LLC offer payment plans?

  • No

Q: Can I submit an online estimate through the website?

  • Estimates can be faxed to 985-492-8259

Q: Do I have to get more than one estimate?

  • No, the only estimate you need is from your insurance company.
  • If your insurance company is requesting you get an estimate, we can handle this for you and submit all necessary photos and documents.

Q: Do I need to schedule an appointment before visiting a Mac’s Automotive LLC location?

  • No, just give us a call and let us know you’re on the way to drop your vehicle off and we will handle the rest.

Q: My insurance adjuster has not seen my car yet. Do I have to finish that process before I give you the key?

  • If you have alternate transportation we will be happy to store your vehicle and assist your insurance company with the disassembly and estimating process.

Q: What if something goes wrong with a repair I had done at Mac’s Automotive LLC a few years from now?

  • You have a Limited Lifetime Warranty on the repairs as long as you own your vehicle. Just give us a call to schedule a re-inspect.

Q: Okay, so I’m ready to bring in my vehicle. What can I expect when I get there?

  • Bring in your estimate if you already have one.
  • We will have you complete an “authorization to repair” form giving us permission to start the teardown and repair process.
  • Last, but not least- the keys to the vehicle.

Q: How do I go get a rental car?

  • If you have rental coverage on your policy your insurance representative will usually arrange for the rental.
  • It is best to call ahead to the rental company to make sure they have a vehicle available on the day you plan to drop your vehicle off for the repairs.
  • Our preferred vendor is Enterprise. They have locations in both Thibodaux and Houma.

Q: Can I pick up my rental car from your location?

  • No, not at this time.
  • The rental company will come to Mac’s Automotive to pick you up and drive you to their location. You will need proof of insurance and your driver’s license.

Q: Where do I get a claim number?

  • Your insurance representative will be able to assign you a claim number.

Q: Will the parts be ordered before I drop off my car for repair?

  • Most of our parts are available overnight so this is not usually necessary.
  • Check with us prior to dropping your vehicle off and we can confirm this for you.

Q: If the frame of my vehicle is damaged is the car a total loss?

  • No, frames can be replaced or repaired per vehicle manufacture recommendations.
  • When an adjuster says a car is a total loss,this usually means it would cost more to repair it than 75% of its market value. The adjuster will determine what the insurance company will pay, depending on the make and model of car and the general condition it was in before the accident. This formula is followed whether the adjuster is with your insurance company or the insurance company that has the liability coverage on the car that hit you.

Q: Can you match my car paint color?

  • Most colors can be match with little issues or any extra work.
  • There are times when panels adjacent to the damaged area will need to be “blended”. This is to ensure the paint color flows from one panel to the next.
  • If there is any color matching concerns please notify one of our employees when you drop off your vehicle.

Q: Can I get other work done on my car while it is in the body shop?

  • We can complete other body or paint work while your vehicle is in for repairs, just notify one of our employees when you drop your vehicle off and we will be happy to write an estimate for this unrelated prior damage.

Q: How long will the repairs take?

  • The length of time it takes to repair your vehicle is based on the estimate.
  • This is a question we will be happy to answer when your vehicle is dropped off.
  • There are other factors that come in to play such as parts availability, extent of damages, and any alignment or sublet repairs.

Q: Do I have to pay a deductible? If so, who do I pay my deductible to?

  • If you are responsible for a deductible your insurance representative will review this with you.
  • Deductibles will be collected by the shop when repairs are complete.

Q: What are Betterment Charges?

  • Betterment charges are used by insurance companies when the replacement parts are for things that wear out and need replacement due to normal usage such as tires, batteries and suspension parts.
  • For example, if the damage to your vehicle includes the need to replace a tire and the tire has obvious wear, a betterment charge will be assessed.

Q: Can my insurance determine where my vehicle is repaired or do I have a choice?

  • You always make the decision of where to have your vehicle repaired.
  • Your insurance company may make recommendations, but the final decision is yours

Q: If I am not going to use insurance, can I still bring my car to Mac’s Automotive LLC?

  • Yes

Q: If my car is not drivable how do I get my vehicle towed to your facility?

  • Call our shop and any of our representatives will be happy to arrange the towing of your vehicle.

Q: Is Mac’s Automotive LLC a direct repair shop for any insurance companies?

  • We are a direct repair for Allstate, Progressive Insurance and others:We work with and accept most insurance companies.

Q: Can I wash my car? What are the recommendations and precautions for the 1st 30 days?

  • Your car can be washed as soon as you pick it up.
